Frequently Asked Questions

How often should you get a skin cancer screening?

It’s recommended that you see a dermatologist at least once a year.

How do I know if a spot needs to be checked?

You should consider getting a spot professionally looked at if it continually gets irritated or painful, bleeds, itches or has changed in size, shape or color. If you are seeing those things, you should try to set up your appointment with a dermatologist within a month or less–sooner is better because some skin cancers can metastasize to internal organs and potentially be life-threatening.

How often should I be doing a self skin exam?

It’s recommended that you perform a skin self exam at least once a month. For more information on how to perform a skin self-exam, here is a helpful video.

Can you help with other skin conditions like eczema?

Yes. I can help with multiple other skin conditions including acne, bumps/ growths, dermatitis, psoriasis, melasma and many more. For more information, give us a call at: 425-201-5117 or send us the Request An Appointment Form from the Contact Us section of our website which you can find here.

How do I know if you take my insurance?

We accept many major insurance providers. To see what insurances are accepted at our office, please look at the “For Patients” tab on our website. There, you’ll find our accepted insurance providers and other important information needed when scheduling an appointment. It is also important (and the patient’s responsibility) that you check with your insurance company to make sure we are in the network for your specific plan.

What can you expect during an appointment?

Here at our office, each of our patients are treated with care and concern. During your appointment, Dr. Gee will take the time to get to know you, your medical history, actively listen to you and talk with you on the best plan for moving forward, while making sure you’re educated and comfortable with the recommendations.

What are some ways to prevent skin cancer?

Skin cancer prevention can be done in a variety of ways including: protecting yourself when in the sun (especially 10am- 4pm) with clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunscreen (at least 30 SPF), and avoiding the use of tanning booths. It is recommended to have a skin cancer screening exam by a board-certified dermatologist at least once a year and to perform a skin self-exam monthly.

What age groups do you treat?

We treat adult patients starting at age 25 when skin cancer can start to become prevalent. Certain skin cancers can occur, though rarely, in the pediatric population, so if you’re concerned please reach out!
